Summary
Thermal conductivity measurements are reported for the alternative refrigerant 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (R134a). These measurements were made over the temperature range from 200 to 390 K at pressures to 70 MPa. Data are reported for the liquid, vapor, and supercritical fluid phases. A significant critical enhancement is observed for R134a. A thermal conductivity surface, which fits our data to ±3.8% at 95% confidence, is provided for R134a. Correlations are also provided for the saturated vapor and saturated liquid thermal conductivity of R134a. Comparisons are made with other available thermal conductivity data for the dilute gas, saturated vapor, and saturated liquid.
