Resumo
A tentative checklist of taxa of macrofauna occurring in the Sado estuary (Portugal) is presented, obtained from a compilation of data included in a number of papers and theses. The list totals 615 taxa, distributed by 15 phyla.\nThis list can contribute to the definition of a reference situation of the macrofauna of the Sado estuary and thus contribute to the efforts being undertaken, namely in terms of the Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC), to characterise these systems. The results of this paper suggest the need of organised efforts of museology.
