Summary
This work explores the application of gamma-ray spectrometry (GR) for outcrop\\nidentification of lithologies, interpretation of depositional trends, and sequence stratigraphic\\nsurfaces of Late Jurassic mixed facies that crops out in Gralha Beach, north of São Martinho do Porto.\\nThe gamma-ray spectrometer did not contribute to the discrimination of lithologies or the\\ndepositional paleoenvironment. Also, the stacking trends suggested by the equipment did not\\ncoincide with the interpreted lithologies from the vertical succession of facies, thereby not helping in\\nthe identification of depositional sequences. The findings of this study suggest that the interpretation\\nof GR data should always be based on a local or regional calibration for the specific kind of facies and\\nsequences which are being studied.
