Summary
To make good measurements of thermophysical properties is difficult and tedious. Nowadays it is not fashionable not economically attractive for industries and funding agencies. The need for accurate data on thermophysical properties of fluids has been replaced to a certain extent by alternative methods of properties calculation, mostly based on computer simulation of predictive/estimation methodologies. Several causes might be attributed to this new situation and a careful analysis has to be done. \\\\nIn this paper we analyze the current attitude of publishing faster other than doing it well, the use of methods of measurement not adequate to the object systems and the decrease for users in industry of the added-value of property data of good quality. \\\\nThermophysics is being weakened and we cannot accept that bad data, acquired by wrong methodologies, pave the way for its dawn. Several examples with systems studied by the author and others in the past, namely recent fashionable areas like ionic liquids and nanofluids, will illustrate these problems.\\\\nThermophysical properties measurement science has a nice future, if we all believe that is not enough to do it or to do it well, but to do it well and rigorously.
