It is our pleasure to warmly welcome all the delegates and guests to the 27th EuCheMS Conference on Molten Salts and Ionic Liquids (EuCheMSIL 2018) to Lisbon.\nThis series of meetings initiated in 1966 as EUCHEM Conference on Molten Salts in Norway, and after molten salt and ionic liquid communities joined forces in 2006, it developed to a true European event organized every two years. EuCheMSIL 2018 promotes intense interaction between both, molten salt and ionic liquid research and covers fundamental aspects as well as all kind of application driven and applied research in ionic media over wide temperature ranges.\nThis conference is organized under the auspices of EUCHEMS, the European Society of Chemical and Molecular Sciences, The Portuguese Chemical Society, SPQ. \nAll submitted papers were carefully reviewed and classified in three types of presentations (oral, flash orals and posters). Apart from several plenary and 9 invited lectures, there are a total of 14 sessions, with 66 oral communications, 22 flash orals and 114 posters, and one industrial discussion.\nThe conference will take place in the monumental area of Belém (Empire Square), at the CCB – Centro Cultural de Belém, a wonderful cultural and meeting structure, to promote interaction and discussion between attendees in the spirit of previous meetings. Participants will experience the unique atmosphere of culture and historical places in Portugal’s capital city, the feeling of the first discoveries, the river and the sea, and the gastronomy and wines.\nFinally, we would like to thank to the authors, reviewers, session chairs, CQE collaborators and FCIENCIAS.ID teams for their support and contribution to make this event possible and successful.\nWe hope you will enjoy your stay in Lisbon.
